The study “Benchmarking European tourism: tourism trends and prospects” focus on current trends and challenges in tourism sector. It was confirmed that tourism policy has become an important vehicle of sustainable economic policy in both the developed and the developing world, leading to accelerated economics growth.
The results of the study suggest that governments of developing countries should focus on economic policies to promote tourism as a potential source of economic growth. This study will also suggest that the European trends and policies in tourism need to be implemented in N. Macedonia and Albania, because of not only economic growth, employment, cultural and environmental preservation, protection for cultural heritage, but also for enhanced cross-border cooperation.
