Our researcher Suzana Kasovska Georgieva was part of the Asian Regional Course on Promoting People- Centred Approaches to the Conservation of Nature and Culture (PNC 21)
The course was organized by ICCROM, IUCN, Cultural Heritage Administration of Korea, Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment, in collaboration with ICOMOS, UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
23 Participants from all over the world were part of the course, which was held online from 16. 08.2021-21.10.2021.
The main objective of the course was to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and awareness necessary for working with diverse people and values in managing heritage places, including World Heritage.
The knowledge from the course will contribute to consolidating people-centred approaches and nature-culture linkages throughout World Heritage processes, as World Heritage has the potential to be a catalyst for improvements to institutional and legal frameworks in many State Parties with positive repercussions for heritage in general. The topics covered in the course were heritage places, heritage management systems, governance, stakeholders and heritage conservation.
During the course, a great knowledge was received that will be further implemented in the cases of cultural heritage in our country.
